College Common Application Essay - Personal Statement, Academic Qualifications, and Personal BackgroundThe College Common Application essay is one of the most essential components for admission to college. To make it more personal, an applicant can add words such as 'why'how'.The College Common Application offers four writing parts: Personal Statement, Academic Qualifications, Recommendations and Personal Background. All essays should be written in chronological order and include one example of each part. Beginning with your Personal Statement, the academic qualifications, and ending with your Personal Background, all should be under one essay. You may wish to break the academic qualifications into two parts, as the first part will contain information on your career goals, while the second part will focus on the course requirements that you plan to fulfill in college.Examples of this format can be found in College Entrance Exam essays. An applicant may find it helpful to write an app lication essay using the following examples. These examples are not exhaustive, but give a good outline of some of the more commonly used methods for essay writing. In most cases, an applicant may choose to add one of these examples to the beginning of his or her college common application essay.For example, a student who intends to pursue a degree in the field of History may use the following example in the Personal Background section. 'I am a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. I intend to use my degree from [high school] to work as a historian in an international organization. This part can focus on the student's hobbies, interests, awards, or achievements. Personal Background should provide the reader with some idea of the student's career aspirations.Reason: Some students may want to explain their reasoning to apply to coll ege. Reason may include some specific courses that they plan to take, or any other activities that they believe will benefit them while in college. The reason for the essay may be in the Personal Background section or may be used as an example in the Academic Qualifications section.Recommendations: Students who are looking for letters of recommendation should include this part of the essay. The recommendation can be given to the student's college counselor or to anyone else. The recommendation must be signed by a credible source, and must show a level of trust.The College Common Application offers a variety of ways to structure an essay. However, there are some general guidelines that every essay should follow. With these guidelines, any applicant should be able to succeed in his or her college application.
